Everything wrong with the subject Psychology!

The subject itself is as mysterious as the human mind for the common people.

Being a Psychology student, I am frequently asked what I learn/have learned in this subject. People are also confused about the career opportunities & scope of Psychology, i.e., whether sufficient jobs are available.

● Only a few people know that Psychology & Psychiatry are 2 different fields, even though they are related.

● Some people also ask me whether I can read faces & foretell what they think presently & some mock me like they are afraid of me as I may read their thoughts or the negative characteristics of their personality. I’m sure that most of the Psychology students would have faced this situation at least once.

● It’s funny when some people believe Psychology is all about hypnosis.

● So many stigmas are related to Psychology. Actually, the aim of a psychologist is to assist people like a friend, to deal with their life in a better way, but still, people are afraid to consult one due to the fear of being labeled as a mental patient.

● Medias such as movies have a role in confusing the audience through fake information regarding psychology & psychologists.

It’s still considered pseudoscience, so people are not fully sure of its effectiveness. Tools to scientifically and accurately understand/measure the human mind & behavior are yet to be invented. I think this mysteriousness is the beauty of Psychology.
